Financial Planning

At Emergence Wealth Management we are here for you.  In today’s world information is readily available and too much information can be overwhelming.  We are here to take the guess work out of financial planning and investing, so you can focus on what is really important to you.

What is financial Planning?

The terms “Financial planning” and “Financial Advisor” can have different meanings to different people.  In simple terms Financial planning is simply looking at a client’s financial goals and creating a strategy to make those goals a reality.  Everyone has different goals.  Every goal has a different timeline, importance, price tag.  Some goals are short term, like buying a vehicle or paying off student loans, While other goals take much more time, for example retirement, that’s a big one.  In reality every goal is important to some degree, the question is figuring out how important that goal is to you.

Financial planning contains several components; cash management, risk management, investment planning, goal setting (a few examples: retirement, education funding, charitable giving, legacy planning), and estate planning.  Depending on the complexity of someone’s financial situation, more components of their plan could exist.

Most please think financial planning is only about retirement, but it can be as detailed and comprehensive as possible.  Yes, pretty much every plan has some sort of retirement plan in place.  I like to call retirement planning, planning to make work life optional.  For some, that looks like retiring to volunteer, consulting part-time, working part-time somewhere, or even changing careers all together.  And sometimes retirement is to stop working all together and enjoying life, whatever that looks like to you.  Financial planning is more than retirement planning, it’s planning for other goals along the way.  Some choose to plan for a dream vacation.  Some have planned to pivot and start a business.  A very common goal is funding a child or grand child’s education.  What financial planning looks like, is you regaining some control of your financial future and deciding what you want your future to look like.

What exactly does that look like?  It is a process.  And with any goal in life, a series of intentional consistent actions create a strategy to help move closer to the financial goal.  We work with you to guide you through each stage of the plan.  A major goal for many is retirement.  And it’s a goal that looks different for everyone.  We work with you to figure out what that looks like for you.  Retirement shouldn’t look like a dream; a goal without a plan is simply that, a dream.

Our Process:

Financial planning and Investing doesn’t need to be complicated, so we use a simple three step process to help our clients meet their unique goals. The Three E’s; Exploration, Evaluation, and Execution.

Exploration:  It is important to us to really know our clients; this is what the “Exploration” phase is about.  It’s about you!  It’s about listening to experiences, current seasons, desired outcomes and what’s most important, so that each client can live not just a better financial life but a fulfilled life. In this phase we gather as much information as possible.  We discuss your goals, risk tolerances and current situation in depth. This is where we uncover the true values and emotional pull to each goal.  This helps us develop a strategy that is tailored to you personally.

Evaluation: We take great care in finding the right solutions for each client.  In the “Evaluation” phase this is where we take everything we have learned about you and your situation, to figure out exactly what is your new starting point; the place in which you emerge from, where you are, to where you are going.

Execution: Once we create possible strategies that could work for you, we present those strategies and discuss which strategy or strategies you are most comfortable with. The best laid plans and strategies become useless if action is not taken.  In the execution phase we take action; we execute.  This phase sounds simple but is actually the longest part of the process, because it requires commitment and discipline to stay the course over time.

It’s important to remember this is a process, meaning it is going to take time.  Time is going to pass no matter what, so make the most of it. The wise Benjamin Franklin said, “ If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”  Everyone wants to see their dreams come true. Sometimes we get so busy living life we forget to plan for the future.  Financial planning and investing are so important for financial success.  It’s not how you start it’s how you finish.  We want to give people hope for their futures.  Allow people to dream again.  We would love to work with you and your family.  Let us walk you through the process of creating an investment strategy and financial plan that is right for you and your family.  It is time to Emerge.
